Solution
Situated at the heart of the Wellington Place Estate in Leeds city centre, 11 & 12 Wellington Place is one one of the most energy efficient office buildings in Leeds and is the first NABERS design reviewed Five Star building in the UK, outside of London.
Offering 254,879 sq ft of BREEAM Outstanding office, leisure and retail space, the development comprises two blocks connected by a fully glazed feature link space. The building’s metallic bronze façade reflects the railway tracks that formed part of the site’s historic use as Leeds Central Station, with its coursing pattern complementing the retained listed stone structures adjacent to the site.
11 & 12 Wellington Place are the most recently constructed buildings in the site’s masterplan and have been designed to the highest sustainability standards. The building will be fully electric and net zero carbon in operation. Solar panels and high-performance triple glazing are incorporated for maximum efficiency.
The building is also designed to Fitwel level 2 rating, improving occupiers’ wellbeing through high levels of natural daylight, biophilic design, views out to the River Aire and a range of facilities including large cycle, shower and changing areas and indoor and outdoor gym areas.
Beyond the green walls that line the reception area, occupiers have access to a range of inset balconies and external roof terraces, as well as landscaped areas surrounding the building. The improvements to the public realm enhance the unique arrival experience through the 16m-high link space.
