Nike Rise Store – Westfield White City

tp bennett worked with Nike to deliver Europe’s first full-scale “Rise” concept store in Westfield Shopping Centre, London. The store, named Nike West London, mixes the physical and digital to create an experiential retail environment for a market with the most digitally connected and sustainably minded athletes and shoppers.
Driven by performance and interactivity, Nike partnered with tp bennett to implement innovative features that achieve sustainability targets whilst providing a unique and immersive retail experience.
An 8-m-tall, glazed façade – the tallest single glazed retail frontage in the UK at the time – features etched flutes carved at the same angle as the iconic Nike “swoosh” which distorts the view into the store to a bring a layer of intrigue while indicating the brand behind. Behind the screen, AV content creates a theatrical liveliness of colour and movement that is distorted until entering the retail space.
Internally, a hand-finished upcycled claywork plaster, unusual for retail environments, creates an artisan finish as well as enhancing the environmental performance of the plaster by releasing ‘good oxidants’ into the air and saving 44 tonnes of embodied carbon, achieving a gold LEED certification. Biophilia is also used throughout to improve air quality and curate a pleasant atmosphere.
