Solution
With good connections to the nearby City of London and the cultural hub of Brick Lane – as well as the boost provided by the London 2012 Olympics – the Whitechapel Road in East London is undergoing positive changes. As part of this uplift, tp bennett was asked to design 100 Whitechapel, a new serviced-apartment hotel for the Bamfords Trust.
On the site of an obsolete garage, the property is to be aimed at mid and long-stay visitors and will provide hotel services to its 147 rooms. Close to the East London Mosque, 100 Whitechapel’s façade is to include subtly-themed Islamic motifs on exterior panels. Within, the bedrooms are to be a mix of studios and one and two-bedroom apartments, and a particularly distinctive feature is that the hotel development is to provide a new pedestrian link to Fieldgate Street and the nearby Myrdle Street Conservation Area.
