Solution
Milton Keynes is one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the UK. With this in mind, the area surrounding Campbell Park, to the immediate east of the town, has been earmarked for development by Milton Keynes Development Partnership, with tp bennett as masterplanner and Crest Nicholson Regeneration delivering the mixed-use scheme.
Surrounded by planted streetscapes, Campbell Park is linked to Milton Keynes by a boulevard, continuing the town’s design tradition. With 383 residential units planned – a combination of apartments and 51 townhouses – Campbell Park aims for both internal coherence and to act as a bridge between Central Milton Keynes and the Grand Union Canal. “It combines Milton Keynes with a landscape solution associated with the canal system,” says tp bennett’s Nick Hirst.
Beyond the housing area, a tree-lined canal basin hosts a population of narrow boats, providing a local leisure focus with amenities including a restaurant and a nursery. With local authority approval in place, residents will move to Campbell Park from 2019 onwards.
