Markit had outgrown its two previous premises. Expanding fast, and ambitious to tell its story, the financial services company’s new headquarters at Ropemaker Place in the City gave an opportunity to develop its working culture and company identity, building on its core company values of trust, integrity, intelligence and creativity.
In response, tp bennett came up with a sleek and efficient interior design, with the accent on dynamism and communication. Open-plan desks, abundant meeting rooms and breakout spaces offer opportunities for privacy and shared activity alike. A staircase creates a link between the office’s two floors, but also acts as an auditorium with the steps as seats. Beneath this feature, a café offers further opportunities for employees and guests to integrate.
We also ensured that Markit’s HQ is sustainable. Staff are encouraged to cycle with 270 bicycle-parking spaces, and an energy-efficient lighting system with presence detection, along with recycling facilities, have helped to gain the building a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’.
