Solution

Praised by Westminster City Council for successfully reinterpreting the London terrace for the 21st century and delivering a positive contribution to the area of Knightsbridge, this bold development by HighPoint Estates will provide five new townhouses in a prime south west London borough.

Just across the road from Harrods, the development replaces a previous scheme for five smaller dwellings designed to a context that changed radically following the construction of a large private residence. Our design is responsive to the new context, respecting both the Trevor Square Conservation area and the eclectic mix of buildings around Brompton Road. Careful reconfiguration of the layouts also provides an extra floor to the townhouses, which are three-storeys in height with two basement levels, despite highly constrained plot sizes.

This project is an exemplar of how to maximise small sites and bring together a palette of sensitively chosen materials that complement the local architectural style without sacrificing on the contemporary touches that make a scheme stand out.
