Wnen international law firm Nabarro took seven floors in 125 London Wall – a feted 1990 building by Terry Farrell – it aimed to create a profile-raising contemporary working environment that would encourage greater business-wide collaboration and promote its stature as an international practice.
Using tp bennett as designers, it was decided to bring in light and maximise the site’s panoramic views, as well as enhance the interiors and express its identity. Taking a cue from the company’s startling geometric logo, an elegant monochromatic scheme was conceived, heralded by a 3m long reception desk that instantly gives visitors a sense of high-end hospitality. A four-storey atrium connected by a graphic spiral staircase was created as a hub for social interaction and create a stylish link between the two wings of the building, opening up a dialogue between its business units and increasing the sense of transparency, clarity and connectivity desired by the company.
A spectacular events space was located at the top of the building under the original Terry Farrell-designed double-height roof, offering dramatic views across the London skyline.
“We took the point of view that we shouldn’t try to cover up the character of this 25-year-old building, but enhance it,” said tp bennett designer Shane Kelly.
