Show Project DescriptionHide Project Description
Kringlan Shopping Centre, designed in the 1990 was Iceland’s first enclosed shopping mall, and was conceived as the principal retail destinations for Reyjavik, Iceland. Following the success of the mall, a scheme for the major refurbishment and extension of the centre was carried out by Engle in 2002.
Engle has drawn up new plans to further expand the shopping centre following a recent masterplan for the Kringlan area of Reykavik. The proposal is for an additional covered shopping area, leisure centre (comprising health spa, multiplex, entertainment complex and restaurants), a new hotel, offices and over 400 luxury apartments accommodated in two new towers. A new green roof podium deck provides a valuable amenity over the 200 space covered carpark provided for residents, staff and visitors.
