Peter Davis

Peter is a planner and urban designer and manages a wide-ranging portfolio of the planning division's work since joining tp bennett in 2008.  He has over 20 years of private and public sector experience in planning, urban regeneration and urban design.

Throughout his career Peter has led negotiations on the design, form and content of major development schemes, the implementation of area masterplans, public realm strategies and environmental improvement programmes.  He has extensive experience of masterplanning, design appraisal, development briefs, compilation and submission of complex planning applications, development control and planning policy formulation.  He leads the urban design and masterplanning aspects of a wide-range of the practice's work across all sectors, but in particular for mixed-use and residential-led masterplans on major sites.

Peter has a strong background in development control practice and innovatibe planning policy formulation. He was previously at Kent County Council where he led the Kent Design Initiative, a partnership of local authorities, the private sector, design professionals and academic and environmental groups championing design quality in the county.  He was the editor-in-chief, joint author and illustrator of the widely acclaimed Kent Design Guide and successfully led the initiative through a programme of training, best practice promotion and design policy production, almost unprecedented in scope for an English local authority.
