Guy Johnson

Guy obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Environmental Design and Bachelor of Architecture degrees at Nottingham University.  Following a short spell with Jennings Ross Associates, he joined R Seifert and Partners in 1984 and became an Associate in 1987.  Much of his work for the Seifert group concentrated on masterplanning projects abroad and in London’s Docklands, including Greenwich View and Glengall Bridge.

Guy joined tp bennett in 1988 and became a Director in 1998.  During this time built residential projects included Gilbey House, Camden and Peninsula Heights, Albert Embankment and office projects at No1 Great Tower Street, and One Curzon Street in London,  Guy also led the design teams responsible for a major masterplan for 5 km of waterfront reclamation at Alges, Portugal, a 280,000 sq ft operational HQ for BP in Aberdeen, characterised by an innovative approach to office form and an emphasis on low energy use, and the commended competition entries for the European Central Bank and underground shopping centre at Vosstaniya Square in St Petersburg.

More recently he has led the design of residential schemes at Point Pleasant, Garratt Lane, Westminster College and Carlton Tower in Wandsworth, London.  He has a keen interest in the challenge of successfully integrating the demands of transport projects with commercial and other building uses and the exploitation of the synergies between them. Applications of this interest have included the design of the redevelopment of London Bridge Station for Network Rail and advice to Crossrail on the optimisation and integration of over-site development on stations, vents and worksites in central London.

Guy is also on the practice's committee for sustainable architecture.
