Tom Helliwell

BA(Hons) Interior Design LEED GA Director

Tom obtained a degree in Interior Design from the Institute of Art & Design at the University of Kent. Since then his career has focused on new ways of working, space utilisation, workplace assessment and change management.

In 2010 Tom joined the BGM group where he delivered a number of projects for large banking clients and established the management and strategy team. Tom's role was also to build and develop workplace analysis software and tools, particularly focusing on space utilisation measurement. Tom developed a product that allowed utilisation and activity data to be recorded whilst reducing the analysis period by 50 per cent. The award was shortlisted for the BIFM 'Innovation in Technology' Award.

Tom has recently joined tp bennett from Pringle Brandon Perkins+Will where, as well as delivering consultancy projects, he was responsible for continually developing their Workplace Toolkit to support and enhance the data gathering and assessment process. Tom gained excellent experience in data collection around the workplace; in his previous role he curated the collection of over 2,000,000 individual observations and has had input into the industry standards on methodology and reporting.

Tom is now part of our specialist workplace team, offering our clients an enhanced service in strategic space utilisation. His extensive experience in workplace data gathering, analysis and interpretation has enabled him to gain an in depth understanding of the relationship between buildings and the people that use them. This combined with research, thought leadership and design experience will enable Tom to create the right space for every business.
