Off-Site Treatment Centre Opens
The Emerson Green NHS Treatment Centre, designed by tp bennett, is thought to be the largest complete hospital to be built off-site.
The treatment centre has been designed to optimise clinical function and provide a reassuring and enjoyable patient experience. This has been realised by promoting a friendly human scale, allowing natural light to penetrate the building whilst offering views to the surrounding rural landscape, and simple and direct routes to all clinical services. The departments are arranged over three floors with reception and out-patient functions on the ground floor, in-patients on the second and surgical on the third.
The design was based on the use of an off-site modular system that minimised the construction period and disruption to the site, and enabled clinical areas to be assembled in the factory by specialist teams in a clean environment.
